College Easterns, March 29-30
Wilmington, NC -- The Duke men's ultimate team drove down to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington to take on top teams in the North Carolina section and from all over the East Coast. Duke came into the tournament seeded fifth overall, in a pool behind North Carolina and James Madison. Although Brimstone was only able to muster 12 players, they came out ready to play, beating ECU 11-6 going into a big matchup with UNC. Windy and cold conditions led to many drops and miscues, but Duke was able to take advantage more times than their opponent, defeating UNC 13-9. After a bye, the team finished off the day beating Ohio and Emory to stay perfect. Sunday started with the last game of pool play against James Madison, the second seed in the pool. Duke went up big to start, and although JMU was able to catch up, the team buckled down and finished them off, avenging early season losses to JMU and ending pool play without a loss.
